Plot Summary:Starring Richard Harris and Lukas Haas, this adaptation of the classic novel by John Steinbeck tells the tale of a poor Mexican pearl diver who finds a valuable pearl that promises to end all his family's struggles. But when things do not turn out as simply as the pearl diver anticipates, the initially hopeful story takes on tragic undertones, and becomes a warning about the destructive forces of jealousy and greed that can often accompany wealth.
